Now, using your homework, combine ideas and rewrite the dialogue again making sure there are no punctuation mistakes, this time. Make sure the tone is conveyed through the characters actions and how they say things. Said is dead, don't use it. Use one of your other explanatory phrases from your Said is Dead List.

- Read individually (p 51-61) and * possible level 1, 2, or 3 questions. In class, groups jigsaw the story into parts, and read a selection of the text. Then the group members meet together to share.
- Meet as a group and come up with 6-level one questions, 6-level two questions, and 2-level three questions (They have to be specific)
- Draw 4 scenes (see p 48 for detailed directions). Two scenes have to be of Sundara at home and two have to be her at school. Leave space between each scene for transitions from one scene to the next. Put drawings in a strip/sequence and add transitions that connect the scenes. (examples provided to view)
- Complete chart as a group. All of you should check it for completion. On chart, put Nar0 instead of Nona, and add Pon to the bottom of the chart.

Digital Cameras needed- warning was given on 2 separate class dates.
Using the digital camera, and the scavenger hunt sheet, take pictures around the school. Use all of the techniques, camera positions, angles, and camera movements listed on the sheet. Once each type of picture is taken, check it off. You are allowed to take pictures using multiple techniques. Use your journal notes to help, and be able to explain each picture you take. Do not take pictures in classes, without first asking teachers in a non-disruptive, polite way. Be sure to bring your camera back to class on the next class day, so this assignment can be graded. Digital Cameras needed- warning was given on 2 separate class dates.
Using the digital camera, and the scavenger hunt sheet, take pictures around the school. Use all of the techniques, camera positions, angles, and camera movements listed on the sheet. Once each type of picture is taken, check it off. You are allowed to take pictures using multiple techniques. Use your journal notes to help, and be able to explain each picture you take. Do not take pictures in classes, without first asking teachers in a non-disruptive, polite way. Be sure to bring your camera back to class on the next class day, so this assignment can be graded. (For extra credit students can also print the photos they take or copy them to a CD). you may want to take two pictures of each item below, to be sure you've fulfilled the requirements of this assignment.

Once completing the circles, come up with a symbol for each category. For example, since my family is know to sit on the porch and gossip, I might use a rocking chair as a symbol for that category.

- Meet with your group and share information you gathered the last class. Also, plan how you will present, when you will meet to make the poster and PowerPoint, and when you will finish your research outside of class.
- Teacher gives a more specific title to research project. New title: History and Evolution of _____________ (Your Media). Now you must show the origins of the media, as well as give an example of the evolution that media has taken since it was created.
- As a group, come up with 15 questions that will guide your research. These questions should be things you would want to know about your subject if you were listening to a presentation about it. For example, 1) What year was television invented?
- Be sure to answer all questions in your presentation verbally as well as visually. Points will be deducted if you do not answer all of the questions.
- Make sure you have a minimum of 4 RELIABLE sources. You may have to toss a source if it isn't reliable.

Have someone document the name of the book, the pg number, and the idea. They must show the book. This will give them time to prepare during your meeting. Breakout: Brandi, please give each group surveys. Tell them to keep them organized the way you have them. Have them analyze each information sheet and total up all of the information from their surveys (on separate paper) as follows:
List the types of things students want to see in the 2009 yearbook
List the number of students who plan on purchasing a 2009 yearbook, as well as the students who don’t
Make a list of reasons why they won’t buy one.
Total the amount of all surveys for per week allowance:
Total amount made per week for student jobs:
Total each category they spend money on separately:
List the places they eat out, and come up with an average for how often they eat out and go to the movies.

Back mapping explained in class. Flip to middle of unit Embedded Assessment 19-20 Cultural Map, briefly look at the assignment criteria with group. Models of cultural maps showed to class. Map is extra credit assignment which can be added to the "I am From" poem Embedded Assessment, by choice.
Teacher passes out EA#1-"I am From" Rubric, each student makes a back map of what needs to be learned in order to complete the "I am From" embedded assessment. Teacher demonstrates how to start the map, and groups work together to finish. Each group member has their own copy, which they turn into the basket OR take home for homework.

Students were told last class to make sure they were here this day, as we would be starting a research project.
Student need to come to class prepared next week. Reminder given.
Sit in group you are comfortable working on a research project (part of it completed outside of class with group). Rubric distributed, students update rubric with their topic (chosen randomly in class). Teacher explains grading criteria of presentation giving the option to complete a poster or PowerPoint.
No due dates given yet. Groups get four index cards each to document a minimum of four sources. Class discusses why it is important to have at least four sources: not all sources are reliable, not all sources have all the information you will need
Groups go to library to begin research.
Next class day: presentation date, research tips, more research time, and further instruction of project.
